Leonardo DRS, Inc. announced today that it is supporting the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) in its mission to provide financial resources to military families in need of economic support. The donation is part of the Leonardo DRS mission to support members of the active-duty and retired members of the military and their families.
Leonardo DRS will donate $25,000 to the NMCRS that will go into the organizations general relief fund to support Sailors, Marines and their families who may have a range of economic needs from assistance after natural disasters, economic uncertainty, educational support or other requirements.
December 1st is Giving Tuesday where non-profit organizations ask for support. The NMCRS will hold a competition called Battle for Bragging Rights, challenging the Navy and Marine Corps donors to see which branch can match or surpass the Leonardo DRS donation.
“We are incredibly grateful to Leonardo DRS for this generous gift, and embracing the spirit of Giving Tuesday,” said NMCRS President and CEO, Lt. General Jack Klimp, USMC (Ret.) “It will have a profound impact on the financial assistance and programs NMCRS will provide to Sea Service families facing hardships.”
“As a company that supports our military branches with innovative technology to protect and saves the lives of our troops, it is an important mission for us to look for innovative ways to support active duty and retired families where they need it the most – at home,” said Leonardo DRS Chief Executive Officer, Bill Lynn. “The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is an important organization that shares our belief in supporting families during difficult times, and we are proud to stand with them in that mission,” he said.
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides financial assistance, interest-free loans, education assistance, grants and more to active duty and retired members of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, their eligible family members and survivors – when in need. NMCRS mostly runs on volunteer support in offices around the world – both ashore and aboard ships.
